Roary the Racing Car

Made Roary the Racing Car (a British cartoon) for a friend. Her husband is turning 40 and he loves racing. This one is a bit more difficult to shape than Lightning McQueen. All parts are cake, even the tires. I hate making red fondant coz it takes a whole jar of coloring paste to get it red enough.

Decorating cakes make me fat because I always eat the scraps or junk food to keep me going in the late night hours. But the cakes are so good so I can't help myself.

Anyway, here are some pics of Roary the Racing Car.

Hi-5

Got a last minute order on Tuesday night from a guy wanting a cake for her daughter on Sunday. He said she wanted a Hi-5 cake, which apparently Hi-5 is a kid tv show, didn't know that. I looked up the logo and thought it was easy enough to make and told him okay. It's just a hand-shaped cake with Hi-5 on it, very minimal decorations.

I carved the hand out of a 2-layer 8" round cake. Didn't have enough for the thumb so I pieced some of the cut out parts together to make the thumb.

Now this week I have to make a Roary the Racing Car cake and start modeling some animals for my nephew's baptism cake. Stay tune.......

Lightning McQueen

Hello, here's my first attempt of a 3-D Lightning McQueen. It's for a little boy who's turning 5. I was hoping that it wouldn't turn out looking like a boat. Not too bad for a first timer I guess, but it took me a while trying to get the cake into a car shape. I am not very good at carving cake yet, you see. Good thing the mother lent me a big Lightning McQueen toy car as a model, which helped a lot. I also made some cupcakes to go with the cake. Overall, it was a good learning experience. Thanks for the opportunity, Tiffany.

Have a great weekend!!
